Best Hotels in Leavenworth, WA

When deciding where to stay in Leavenworth, one of the biggest things to consider is what kind of experience you’re looking for. If you plan on spending a lot of time exploring the Bavarian village, I recommend staying in downtown Leavenworth, where you’ll be within walking distance of the charming shops, restaurants, and seasonal festivities.

Personally, this is my recommendation even if you plan to do activities outside of downtown and you can really only get the full Leavenworth experience if you stay downtown in the midst of it all. I have stayed both far away from downtown and in the village, and I definitely had a more memorable experience staying downtown.

However, if you’re looking for a more relaxing or romantic getaway, there are plenty of beautiful accommodations just outside of town that offer peaceful mountain scenery, luxurious spa amenities, and a more secluded atmosphere.

Below are my top recommendations for the best hotels in Leavenworth, Washington, to help you find the perfect place to stay for your trip!

Posthotel Leavenworth

Posthotel Leavenworth – best luxury hotel

If you’re looking for a luxurious getaway in Leavenworth, Posthotel Leavenworth would be my top recommendation! This is a beautiful adults-only hotel that combines European-inspired elegance with a relaxing spa experience.

In my opinion, this hotel offers the best of both worlds: a luxurious upscale experience while also being within walking distance of Leavenworth’s Bavarian village. If your budget allows, this is absolutely my top recommendation for where to stay in Leavenworth.

The highlight of Posthotel Leavenworth is its incredible spa and wellness facilities, inspired by traditional Alpine wellness retreats. The amenities include indoor and outdoor saltwater pools, saunas, steam rooms, and cold plunge pools. In my opinion, it’s the best luxury hotel in Leavenworth for anyone who wants to enjoy both the charming Bavarian village and a relaxing resort experience. If I were planning another trip to Leavenworth, this is where I would want to stay!

abendblume – best romantic bed & breakfast

If you’re looking for a romantic getaway in Leavenworth, Abendblume is definitely worth considering! This charming adults-only bed and breakfast is designed to resemble a traditional Austrian country inn, complete with beautiful gardens, flower-covered balconies, and stunning views of the Cascade Mountains.

Abendblume is located just outside of downtown Leavenworth, so it’s a great option for those who want to explore the Bavarian village but also prefer somewhere a little quieter to stay. The property sits on three acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, giving it a peaceful and secluded atmosphere without being too far from the shops and restaurants in town.

One of the things that sets Abendblume apart is how much character it has! You can tell they put a lot of thought into the uniquely decorated rooms which gives it such a cozy atmosphere. I would especially recommend Abendblume for couples planning a romantic weekend trip or anyone looking for a cozy getaway in Leavenworth!

icicle village resort – best for families

If you’re planning a family vacation to Leavenworth, Icicle Village Resort is one of the best places to stay! This family-friendly resort offers plenty of activities and amenities to keep everyone entertained, making it a great option for those who want more than just a place to sleep.

This resort features a heated outdoor pool, hot tubs, miniature golf course, playground, and a game room. They also have an on-site restaurant and spa for the adults to enjoy! They also offer a variety of room options including traditional hotel rooms to spacious one and two-bedroom condos. The condos are especially convenient for families and larger groups.

Icicle Village is about a 10-15 minute walk from downtown Leavenworth, so it’s close enough to easily explore the Bavarian village without having to drive. I would especially recommend Icicle Village Resort for families traveling with children or groups looking for a stay with plenty of amenities. It’s the perfect choice if you want the convenience of being near downtown but also want a more traditional resort experience.

FairBridge Inn & suites – best budget hotel

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly hotel in Leavenworth without sacrificing location, Fairbridge Inn & Suites is a great option! This is actually where we stayed during our last trip to Leavenworth, and I would definitely recommend it for travelers who want to save money on accommodations while still being within walking distance of the Bavarian Village.

The hotel is located just a short walk from downtown Leavenworth, making it easy to explore the shops, restaurants, and attractions without having to worry about parking. For the price, I think the location is hard to beat!

Fairbridge Inn & Suites is a fairly basic hotel, so don’t expect the luxury amenities or charming European atmosphere you’ll find at some of the other accommodations on this list. However, if you’re planning to spend most of your days out exploring Leavenworth and the surrounding Cascade Mountains, you really don’t need anything fancy! This is a great place to use as your home base while enjoying everything the area has to offer.

Sleeping lady mountain resort – best mountain retreat

This one is a little different from my other recommendations. Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort is the perfect place to stay in Leavenworth if you want to escape the crowds and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Cascade Mountains. This is a peaceful mountain resort tucked away in the forest along Icicle Creek, making it the perfect getaway for nature lovers and anyone looking for a more relaxing vacation.

Located about a 10 minutes drive from downtown Leavenworth, Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort offers a completely different experience from staying in the Bavarian village. The resort sits on 67 acres of beautiful forested grounds, with cozy cabin-style accommodations – great for those who want to spend their days exploring the outdoors!

If you’re mainly looking for a quiet mountain escape then I think this is the place to go. Although you won’t have the convenience of walking into downtown Leavenworth, the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful nature surroundings make this resort a great option worth considering!

Best Areas to Stay in Leavenworth

By now, you know that I think downtown is the best area to stay in Leavenworth. However, there are other areas to consider based on the type of trip you want to have. The three areas I would consider are downtown, Icicle Road, or Lake Wenatchee area.

downtown Leavenworth – best overall

In my opinion, downtown Leavenworth is the best area to stay, especially if you’re visiting for the first time! This is where you’ll find the charming Bavarian village filled with unique shops, restaurants, breweries, wine bars, and seasonal festivities. Part of the fun of Leavenworth is being in the middle of the festive atmosphere.

I would especially recommend staying downtown if you’re visiting during the Christmas season. The village transforms into a winter wonderland with thousands of twinkling lights, festive decorations, and holiday activities. If you’re not staying downtown, finding parking can be challenging during this time of year.

Although downtown hotels can be more expensive, I think the convenience and experience is worth it!

Icicle road – best for nature lovers

This area is especially popular with outdoor enthusiasts because of its proximity to some of the best hiking trails in Leavenworth, including the famous Enchantments. You’ll also find beautiful resorts, cabins, and vacation rentals tucked away in the mountains, making it a great place to relax after a long day of exploring.

When to book your Leavenworth hotel

Leavenworth is a beautiful destination to visit year-round, but the time of year you plan your trip can make a big difference in hotel prices and availability. Because Leavenworth is such a popular weekend getaway in Washington, I recommend booking your accommodations as early as possible especially if you’re visiting during one of the town’s popular seasonal events!

Summer is my second favorite time to visit Leavenworth. There are beautiful hiking trails near Leavenworth including one of my favorite hikes of all time, Colchuck Lake. The summer is slightly less busy so you’ll have an easier time booking somewhat last minute.

Spring is probably the least busy time for Leavenworth. Personally, I wouldn’t visit during this time. By this time, the holiday festivities are over but it’s not warm enough yet for outdoor activities either. However, if you’re looking to avoid crowds and find better hotel rates this could be a good option.
